Lemon rice! A delicious type or rice from India. A great side dish for lot’s of meals. We love to eat it with veggies and shrimps, a curry or with some spicy chicken.
|Basmati rice||300 gr|
|Mustard seeds||1 teaspoon|
|Turmeric powder||0.5 teaspoon|
|Lemon juice||1 lemon|
|Vegetable oil||1 spoon|
Wash the rice thoroughly and leave it to soak for 15 minutes.
Toast the mustard seeds in the oil for 5 minutes on medium heat. Add the turmeric and lemon juice of 1 whole lemon and then reduce the liquid by half for 3 minutes on medium heat.
Add the drained rice, salt and scant 450 ml water. Cover the pan and cook it for 15 minutes on medium heat.
Turn off the heat and leave the rice for 10 minutes with the lid on. Gently stir the rice and serve immediately.
