Making cinnamon rolls was already for a long time and item on our ‘to bake’ list. Now I (Daughter) finally prepared them!
This dough is amazing! For the first time these cinnamon rolls turned out to be PERFECT! The dough is soft, light, airy and super delicious. Definitely worth to try it out!
The Cinnamon rolls dough
|Yeast (instant)||1 bag (7gr)|
|Brown caster sugar||100 gr|
|Powdered sugar||100 gr|
|Vanilla extract||1 teaspoon|
Melt the butter on very low fire for 15 minutes until it is melted and brown. After 15 minutes sieve the butter and let it cool down.
Heat up the milk in a pan on low fire until it is a bit warm. Not too hot! When the butter is cooled down, add 5 spoons of butter into the milk and mix this.
Mix in a bowl 3/4 of the flour, the sugar and the yeast and a pinch of salt. Add later the milk, egg and water. Mix everything within a kitchen machine with dough hooks. Add the other part of the flour as well. When it is still a bit too soft you can add some more flour until it is a soft and elastic dough. (mostly after 10 minutes of mixing). when the dough is ready, make a nice bowl and let it rest for 10 minutes under a cover.
After 10 minutes, roll out the dough until you have a nice big square. Add the rest of the butter (keep 2 spoons of butter for later) on top of this dough square. After that add the brown sugar and the cinnamon.
Then cut stripes of +- 10 cm and roll the dough.
Place the cinnamon rolls in a nice baking tray covered with baking paper. Place them with the round side on top.
Let them rise for another 30/40 minutes until the rolls have doubled their sizes.
Before putting them in the oven put the rest of the butter on top of the rolls. Put them in the oven for 20 minutes on 190 degrees.
For the glaze:
Mix everything and place it on top of the cinnamon rolls when they come out of the oven.
Super delicious as a dessert or to eat with a cup of coffee.
