I love to make pie's!  When I expected my friends for dinner, I had a busy day already, but I really wanted to make a small pie for dessert. So I came up with  this coffee cake. It is a nice variation on the plain cake and I really enjoy the strong coffee flavor of it.



Butter 170 gr
Sugar 150 gr
Eggs 3
Self raising flower 170 gr
espresso 1 strong cup

The Glaze

Butter 150 gr
Powdered sugar 150 gr
Walnuts 10
Espresso 1

Preparation Process


Mix the butter and sugar with a kitchen machine. Add the eggs in the bowl one by one, in between the eggs, add some flower into the mix. When all eggs and flower is in the bowl, add the espresso and mix for 2 more minutes. Put it in a pie form and bake in the oven for 35 minutes at 170 degrees.


Mix the butter and the sugar with the kitchen machine until the butter if fluffy, ad an espresso in this mixture as well.

Wait until the cake is cooled and place the glaze on top of the cake. Break the walnuts in halves and place it nicely on the cake.

Tips and variations

I loved to eat this as a dessert with some homemade vanilla ice cream on the side. The next day, it is also super enjoyable together with a cup of coffee in the afternoon.
