Torta di Mele

You can bake a apple pie in so many ways! We used to bake the Dutch version with a dough crust, a apple/raisin filling and some dough on top. The French have and up side down apple pine: Tarte tartin. The Italians have there own as well; Torta di  Mele. A delicious pie which taste a bit like an apple cake. A delicious apple pie which you definitely need to try!



The Pie

Apples 4
Flour 200 gr
Eggs 2
Milk 200 ml
Sugar 150 gr
Vanilla extract 1 teaspoon
Baking powder 1 teaspoon
Cinnamon 2 spoons
Salt A pinch
Nutmeg 1 teaspoon
Lemon  1
Butter 100 gr

Preparation Process

Peel the apples and cut them in pieces. 

Rasp the zest of the lemon and use the juice to pour over the apples. Mix the apples with the juice. 

Melt the butter and let it cool down. Mix in a kitchen machine the eggs and sugar for 5 minutes to make it airy. Add the melted butter, lemon zest, vanilla extract, and the milk and mix again. Then add the flour, baking powder, salt, cinnamon and nutmeg and mix it all together. At the and add the apples and stir with a spoon. 

Put some baking paper on the bottom of the baking form and oil the sides. Pour the mixture into the form and put it in the oven for 50 minutes on 180 degrees.

Let the pie cool down before you take it out of the form, it will break when it is too hot. 

Tips and variations

Delicious with some cinnamon mascarpone or just whipped cream.
